Research and responsibility
StampDutyCal is responsible for researching and maintaining its content and calculators. Our review is based on personal research using published government information. We do not describe this as independent professional tax review.
Sources we use
We prioritise HMRC and GOV.UK for SDLT, Revenue Scotland for LBTT, and the Welsh Revenue Authority for LTT. Where a source changes or rules are unclear, readers should confirm the treatment with the authority or their conveyancer.
How content is prepared
AI-assisted tools are used to help draft explanations and develop the website. The published material is checked against the cited sources, and supported calculation scenarios are tested. Automation is not a substitute for professional advice or a guarantee that every circumstance is covered.
Updates when rules change
We update our content and calculation rules when changes occur. A rates-checked date records when the published rates were checked. It is not a promise of continuous monitoring or immediate incorporation of every announcement. Announcements and proposed changes are not treated as effective rules until their status and timing are established.
Corrections
If you find a potential error, contact [email protected] with enough information to reproduce it. We investigate against the relevant source, correct confirmed errors and update review information when appropriate.
Independence
StampDutyCal is not part of HMRC or another tax authority. Our calculators are estimates. We do not claim that this website is an official government service.
